The new production contains 15 short stories which capture Barrow’s identity, personality and indefatigable spirit.

67,000 Barrovians Can’t Be Wrong is a celebration of the town and its people, told through a series of five minute fables - all based on true stories.
The work tells the story of the people, places, events and moments that have shaped the town. It will look at everything from Dave Day to Georgia Stanway, The Bon Bon to Barrow AFC at Wembley.

67,000 Barrovians Can’t Be Wrong runs for two nights at The Cooke’s Studios, Exhibition Space this Friday and Saturday night, 2nd and 3rd October.

The plays are a climax to the year-long IF! Inclusion Festival which will have seen nine shows take place at different venues all over Barrow. Many shows ran for two nights due to the demand for tickets.

Rachel Ashton, Artistic Director of Theatre Factory said: “67,000 Barrovians Can’t Be Wrong is the very last show of the festival. We copied the title from an old Elvis Presley album. This work is about actual Barrow people and real events. Some of the short stories are told by people and some by seagulls. Seagulls look down on us like feathery angels with big yellow beaks and we thought they were ideally placed to comment on life here.”

IF! Inclusion Festival began in autumn 2025 and a huge number of people have been involved from professional actors and community casts, to community choirs and young people.

Rachel added: “Audiences have followed from the very first show and have come on a journey with us. It has been amazing. We always viewed the programme as a love song to Barrow because it is such a special place. The dramas have captured the town’s tolerance, resilience and strength of community. I think they’ve also caught peoples’ imaginations too”.

‍Alongside the last show is an exhibition at First Floor, The Cooke’s Studios of the costumes and props from the shows which made up the IF !Festival. See the ‘Barrow Toile’ - a huge fabric picturing 80 images of the town. Also see 300 alternative ‘Blue Plaques’ made by people across Barrow which celebrate the great and good of this town we love.

The exhibition is open 30 September, 1 and 4 October from 12-5pm, and 2 and 3 October from 6-10pm.
